Goalless Draw at Latham Park

The Saints were held to a 0-0 draw against Newtown, with Michael Taylor receiving a red card for a two-footed lunge.

This sees us drop points for the first time this season, but with a long way to go until the end of the season we are very much in the hunt for the Welsh Premier League title.

Jamie Wood Suspension

The club has just heard that Jamie Wood, who was sent off against Prestatyn Town, has received a 2 game suspension.  This means that Jamie will miss the games against Newtown AFC and Prestatyn Town (Cup game), but will be eligible for next friday’s game at home against Caernarfon Town.

Upcoming Fixtures

Tuesday 9th September sees the Saints go up against Prestatyn at Park Hall, which is fast becoming a daunting ground for opposing sides.  After the success of our previous friday night game against Prestatyn we are looking to recreate the family atmosphere that was enjoyed by fans and players alike.

As part of this families will be able to watch the match for only £8, which gives access for 2 adults and 2 children under 14.  This family ticket will be available on the gate and we would like to encourage the local community to take advantage of this as we look to continue our unbeaten run and regain the Welsh PremierLeague title.

Our other fixture next week is a against Caernarfon on Friday 12th September.

The Prestatyn match saw nearly 500 fans queue to cheer on the lads, as such we sold out of programmes early, so we would like to apologise if you weren’t able to purchase one.  Rest assured we will be increasing the number of programmes we print, as our crowd numbers continue to grow.

If you’ve not been to one of our matches before we look forward to welcoming you to Park Hall, why not get in early and enjoy a drink and bite to eat in The Venue.

Come on you Saints!

Saints back on top

A bumper friday night crowd watched Andy Cale’s men see off any potential upset with a 2-0 victory against Prestatyn.

Nearly 500 fans queued to get into Park Hall and were rewarded with a well contested match, the first half saw both sides pushing forward until a foul by Prestatyn keeper Jon Dunt on Duane Courtney presented the Saints with a penalty.  John Leah wearing the captain’s armband coolly converted from the spot and the Saints went into half-time one goal up.

The second goal came from a clever through ball by Michael Wilde, which Alex Darlington skillfully headed past Dunt and into the goal, giving him his first goal for the club and receiving warm appreciation from the Park Hall faithful in return.

A third could have been had if the penalty appeals had been heard when robust Dunt blocked John Toner in the box.  In the aftermath of this Jamie Wood was sent for an early bath after vigorously protesting to the referee.

With minutes left Toner nearly did get a third with a shot from outside of the box which went narrowly wide.  At the final whistle the Saints shot to the top of the table with three wins out of three, whilst Paul Harrison has the right to be especially proud as he kept his third clean sheet of the season.

The Dragon Company Man of the Match was stalwart Defender Duane Courtney.

Next home match: Tuesday 9th September.  League Cup.  Vs Prestatyn Town.  Kick Off at 7.30pm, tickets available on the gate.
