The 2012/2013 season has seen success on and off the field for all three age groups that have been represented The New Saints.
The U18′s finished 4th in their first season in the Central Warwickshire girls league and reached the quarter final of the league cup, before being narrowly beaten by Coventry City.
The first success of the season came in February when the County Futsal competitions were held. The Saints took home the trophy after winning both the U16 and the U14 competition and in the process, qualifying for the regional competition.
The ‘Regional’s’ took place at the Birmingham International Futsal Arena in April and the U14′s sadly went out, despite taking two points out of their three games. The U16′s won all of their games on the day and won the group comfortably. They have now qualified for the National finals, which are set to be held in Birmingham on Sunday the 30th of June.
The U16′s also experienced success in their domestic season after winning the Powys girls league and the Powys County cup. The remarkable young side didn’t lose a game all season. In the Semi Final of the Cup, they cruised past Llandridod Wells, beating them 4-1 which secured their spot in the final. The Saints faced Llanidlose Town in the final, which was held at Latham Park, the home of Newtown AFC. In what was a very exciting final, the match finished two all thanks to goals from Megan Heley and a penalty from Welsh International Charlotte Edmunds. The match went to penalties and Edmunds was the hero again, saving two penalties before Danni Prince stepped up to tuck home the winner. Ellie Evans lifted the trophy in her final game for the club.
