The New Saints Under 16’s beat the Galaticos 16’s 2-0 thanks to goals from Harrison Millington and trialist, Callum Graybrook.
The full team line up was Andy Wycherley, Matt Perry, Ryan Tyrer, Matt Bainbridge, Ross Tyler, Greg Evans, Joe Walsh, Harrison Millington, George Minshall, Lewis Evans and Tom Birch.
On the bench were Leighton Tierney, Cal Graybrook (trialist), Keiron Felton (trialist), Jack Perry, Antoni Sarnowski, Lee Killen, Steve Roberts and Jack Bates.
Manager Steve Benyon was delighted with his team and said, ‘This was the first competitive game back for the new 16’s squad. Every player bar Sam Gostage and James Nicholas were involved in the 3×35 minute period match, and the opponents proved to be a very tough and well organised outfit. The game started off at a very high tempo with our boys creating a number of excellent opportunities due to the high flowing and fast passing moves, just being undone with the final shots. We took the lead through a very good team goal scored by the excellent Harrison Millington and then early in the third period through Cal Graybrook, after an excellent ball from the impressive Ross Tyler.’
Benyon went onto add that, ‘It was a very good workout for the boys. There were some excellent performances, however I felt as though we lacked the quality needed in the final third.’
The TNS Under 16’s will play Vauxhall Motors this Sunday, which again will prove to be a tough test for the boys.
