The New Saints Under 16’s beat Galacticos 6-3 thanks to goals from Joe Walsh, Lewis Evans, Ross Tyler, Lewis Wenton and a brace from Harrison Millington.
In wet and windy conditions it was always going to be difficult for the home side but TNS dominated the whole match.
Galacticos were very physical and after playing some eye-catching football, the visitors took a surprise lead.
Walsh equalised with a fantastic header and soon after Millington made it 2-1 with a great free-kick.
A screamer from a Galacticos player made it 2-2, but minutes later, Evans found himself in space and coolly slotted in to give his side the lead at half time.
The second half proved to be a tough affair, but three more goals were scored thanks to Wenton, Tyler and another from Millington, to ensure that Steve Benyon’s team won by six goals to three.
Benyon was happy but admits there is still work to be done, ‘Overall it was a promising performance against a well organised and talented side. There is still work to be done defensively and we will look to put that right on Tuesday when we face Premier League side Stoke City away at their training ground.’
The next fixture for the boys will be an away game at Stoke City, with the kick off scheduled for 19:00pm.
The team line up included Antoni Sarnowski, Steve Roberts, Ryan Tyrer, Matt Bainbridge, Jack Bates, Harrison Millington, Greg Evans, Joe Walsh, Lewis Wenton, Lewis Evans and George Minshall.
On the bench were Andy Wycherley, Tom Birch, Ross Tyler, Leighton Tierney and Lee Evans.
