Young Saints run riot

The New Saints Under 19 team went top of the Welsh Premier Under 19 League after  an 8-0 home win over Rhyl Under 19s at Park Hall Stadium on Sunday.

The hosts opened their account in the 12th minute when Fisnik Hadjari won the ball in midfield and fed Dylan Jones on the left, before reaching Ben Richards, who then fired a right foot shot into Rhyl goalkeeper Alex Ramsay’s right hand corner.

Ten minutes later Richards found Adam Davies’ and his low left foot drive from the edge of the box was met by the clinical Taylor James, who diverted the ball in.

It was 3-0 in the 30th minute when a great through ball by Kershaw found James inside the box and the striker powered his low left foot drive into Ramsay’s left hand corner.

Minutes before half time, it was four. James completed a wonderful hat-trick as he superbly lifted the ball over the advancing Ramsay to give his side a four goal advantage at the break.

TNS made it five in the 50th minute when half time sub Rhys Cooper, ran down the left before crossing for Liam Walker to slot in from close range.

Steve Evans’ team added a sixth with ten minutes left when Jones’ deep cross found Walker who calmly added his second of the game.

The rampant home side then made it seven thanks to Sam Prince. The substitute kept his cool to convert from close range and in the last minute of the game, the young Saints added an eighth.

The rout was complete when Jones fed the overlapping Cooper, who crossed in to find the impressive Walker,  who then fired home at the near post to round off a magnificent hat-trick.
