The New Saints will travel to Afan Lido tomorrow in the Corbett Sports Welsh Premier League.Craig Harrison’s team are unbeaten in the WPL since August and will be hoping to win a fifth league game in a row.
Harrison will be without both Ryan Fraughan and Connell Rawlinson. The 36 year old will also be without Scott Ruscoe and Steve Evans who are both still recovering from their respective injuries.
Founded in1967, Afan Lido are managed by Paul Evans and were recently beaten by TNS in October. A wonderful goal from Kai Edwards and brilliant brace from Alex Darlington ensured a comfortable victory at Park Hall stadium.
When The Saints last travelled to Marston’s Stadium, Ryan Fraughan, Steve Evans and Greg Draper sealed a three one away victory as Harrison’s side went on to win the league by a record points margin.
The Director of Football admitted that Afan Lido can cause a threat and said, ‘It is going to be a tough game tomorrow because they won their first game last weekend against Prestatyn and to be fair to them, they have been performing well. They are going to be full of confidence after their win and it is important that we go down there and get a result.’
The former Middlesbrough man added that, ‘Without being disrespectful to Afan Lido, the pitch isn’t the best and with it likely being wet and windy, it is going to be a very difficult game. If we have to grind a result out then that is what we are going to do because we want to win and carry on the run.’
The match will kick off at 19:30pm.
