TNS manager pleased with his Champions

The New Saints extended their gap at the top of the Corbett Sports Welsh Premier League to five points on Friday night and Craig Harrison was delighted with the patience that his team showed, ‘We remained patient in the second half which was really important. I knew it was going to be a tough game and like I said in my pre-match notes, it wasn’t going to be a be a forgone conclusion. They were a real threat on the counter attack and to be fair to them, they have only been beaten by the odd goal this season.’

The Saints went into the break trailing by one goal but a wonderful free kick from Chris Marriott and a late winner from Mike Wilde rounded off a fantastic second half performance, one that Harrison was extremely pleased with, ‘We were in complete control for the whole of the second half and we put a lot of pressure on Lido. we created a number of chances and although we scored the winning goal late on, we could have scored earlier.’

The Director of Football also spoke about the excellent away form that his champions are currently displaying, ‘We have had some positive press about our home form over the last 12 months but we also take great pride in our away form,n which has seen us lose only once in the same time. We have played 16 games and have lost only one which is a fantastic record.’

The 36 year old then admitted his secret to the success, ‘First and foremost we have a very hard working ethic, both with and without the ball. We also ensure that the team is more important than any individual player at the club. We will once again be working extremely hard in training this week to keep our very proud form going.’

TNS will now travel to Port Talbot on Sunday, looking for another three points.
