Superb Saints continue to break records

Saturday’s 3-0 victory over Prestatyn at Park Hall secured The New Saints’ seventh home victory in seven matches in this season’s Corbett Sports Welsh Premier League.

The Saints have also scored an incredible 28 goals in the process and have yet to concede one.

Taking last season’s home record into account, TNS have now won their last 15 matches in Oswestry which is a new club record. The record has surpassed Barry Town’s feat of winning 14 on the bounce.

Craig Harrison was understandably delighted with another home win that ensured the record and said, ‘I was really pleased with the team because we won at home again and once more we didn’t concede. We are yet to concede in seven games this season and are scoring over three goals a match. We were in reasonable control during the first half after we had scored early on and after that, we managed to keep the ball well. When teams come here, they have nothing to lose, so during the second half, they definitely had a bit of a spell. The game was a little bit stretched after the break but we always knew that a second goal would kill them off.’

Harrison admitted that his team had to add to their early goal and said, ‘At one nil, they were always in the game. It may have been either a great goal or a mistake but we knew that we had to score to make sure of the points. The goal came late but one of the advantages that we have here, is our strength on the bench. We took Mike Wilde off who is the current top scorer in the league and was also the Golden Boot winner last season and we replace him with Greg draper, who scored two good goals in the last ten minutes.  Greg only played 20 minutes and he managed to get a brace and that is so important to us because of our strength in depth.’
