Newtown Preview

  • The New Saints will take on Newtown tomorrow in the Corbett Sports Welsh Premier League at Latham Park.

 

  • Craig Harrison will be without the services of Alex Darlington, Ryan Fraughan, Steve Evans and Scott Ruscoe, who are all out injured.

 

  • The 36 year old Director of Football will however be able to welcome back Kai Edwards to the squad. The powerful centre back missed the victory against Carmarthen Town after picking up an injury to his ankle during the home match against Bangor City.

 

  • The former Premier League defender is happy to have Edwards back and said, ‘I am pleased to have Kai available for selection again. He has been an ever present this season and is a pivotal part of the team. We will be looking to win the game and put a few wrongs right. That is the beauty of football because we have got a second opportunity to put both the performance and the result right tomorrow with a strong performance and a win.’

 

  • Managed by Chris Hughes, Newtown AFC were founded in 1875 and beat The Saints 1-0 on Boxing Day at Latham Park, thanks to a Sean Evans goal.

 

  • Nicknamed The Robins, Newtown are currently sat in 5th place in the Corbett Sports Welsh Premier League.

 

  • The WPL match will kick off at 14:30pm.
