The New Saints have today confirmed that eighteen year old Ryan Kershaw, has put pen to paper on a two year contract.
The exciting midfielder has been with The Saints since the age of 15 and has come through the TNS Academy.
Kerhsaw made his professional debut against Afan Lido in 2013 and has since been involved in a number of squads for the Corbett Sports Welsh Premier League Champions.
The youngster was also one of the key players during Steve Evans’ TNS Under 19’s Championship winning side this season.
Evans was understandably proud to have helped Kerhsaw develop over the past couple of seasons and said, ‘I am extremely happy to see Ryan signing a contract with the first team and it is what the youth system is all about. If we can get at least one player through the youth system that goes onto play in the first team each year, it will show that the infrastructure that we have at the club is excellent. It is great for all of us who associated with the Academy because we have all put a lot of work in and to see a player getting a contract with the first team is the reward. We want to develop players at this club and help them reach the standard of the first team.’
The former Wrexham defender added that, ‘Ryan can be as good as he wants to be. He has had a great couple of seasons and he is a pleasure to coach. He has learned a lot over the past year in regards to his temperament and he has matured a lot over the course of the season. He has listened to what we have told him and on the pitch he has been terrific. To be fair to Ryan, he won games on his own this season with a bit of brilliance.’
Fellow Academy graduates, Luke Douglas and Scott Quigley have also resigned with the latter signing for two more years.
