Our UEFA Champions League Opponents

SK Slovan Bratislava are based in Slovakia’s Capital, Bratislava.  The  2013/2014 Slovakian Champions are managed by František Straka and play their home games at Stadion Pasienky.

The capacity of their home ground is 11,600 and they are due to move into a new 20,000 all seated stadium in 2016.

Nicknamed Belasi (Sky Blues), they won the UEFA Cup Winners Cup in 1969 after beating FC Barcelona.

The club was founded in 1919.

Slovan Bratislava have never advanced beyond the Champions League third qualifying round but reached the group stages of the Europa League in 2011-12 season.

Robert Vittek is one of the most famous players in Slovakian football. The Slovakian top international goal scorer plays for SK Slovan Bratislava. The 32 year old returned to the club after spells in Germany, France and Turkey. The powerful forward famously helped his Slovakia side knock out reigning World Champions Italy, in the 2010 FIFA World Cup. The Bratislava born striker scored two goals in the 3-2 victory and ended the tournament in South Africa with an impressive four goals to his name.
