The New Saints Ladies completed their second win of their pre season campaign after beating Welsh Premier League side, Port Talbot Town Ladies 12-2 at Park Hall Stadium.
The Saints were looking to emulate the victory against Stoke a week earlier and within minutes, TNS struck home the first thanks to Abi Cottom, who unleashed a powerful strike that flew into the top corner of the net.
The lead was soon doubled when a well worked move resulted in left back Lizzy White breaking into the penalty area and slotting past the outstretched goalkeeper.
Cottom then added her second before she completed her wonderful hat-rick late on in the first half.
Lizzy White scored her second of the game and minutes later, Jade Hill headed home on the stoke of half time to give the hosts a 6-0 lead at the break.
The second half resumed with another goal as Chloe Mapp scored The Saints’ sixth goal before Laura Morris had a shot deflected past the Port Talbot Town keeper to score in her first game since getting injured in the Shropshire Women’s Cup final.
The visitors then pulled a goal back when Courtney Thomas broke through and placed the ball past Charlotte Edmunds.
The play switched immediately to the other end where The Saints won a penalty. Morris stepped up but was denied by the keeper who could only parry the ball straight back to Morris, who smashed the ball into the roof of the net to score The Saints eighth of the match.
Jen Smith added another goal before the excellent Morris completed her hat-trick.
Thomas then scored her second of the game for the visitors but within seconds Smith completed her own brace to ensure that TNS won 12-2.
The Saints’ next friendly is against Hafren United on Sunday the 10th of August.
