WNSC STORY

The New Saints Football Club, in partnership with Walford and North Shropshire College, offer a Football Scholarship where young and talented footballers can develop their skills and become professional footballers whilst studying at the same time.

Ryan Kershaw, Scott Quigley and Ryan Pryce have all taken advantage of the Scholarship and are now professional footballers playing for The New Saints which is the most successful club in Welsh football.

The course involves 60% studying and 40% football coaching. Students can study a BTEC National Diploma in Sport as well as a range of other options such as IT, Key skills and foundation level courses.

The football coaching programme is delivered by first team players including Scott Ruscoe, Steve Evans, Matty Williams and Michael Wilde.

Annual Trials take place each spring for courses starting in September.

Now in it’s eleventh season, the Football Scholarship has produced many excellent footballers, some of which have been offered full-time contracts at the Corbett Sports Welsh Premier Champions. The New Saints Football Scholarship team play every Wednesday against other colleges, with Elite players playing for The New Saints FC Under 19’s team in the Welsh Premier Under 19 League.
