The New Saints thrashed Prestatyn Town by six goals to nil at Park Hall Stadium this afternoon.
Matty Williams broke the deadlock in the seventh minute and within 60 seconds, Mike Wilde doubled the advantage. Soon after it was three with Wilde completing his brace. Minutes into the second half Adrian Cieslewicz smashed in the fourth goal. Alex Darlington added a fifth and Chris Marriott’s deflected cross made it six nil to conclude the scoring.
With only seven minutes gone, Scott Williams fumbled the ball and Williams pounced and converted into the empty net to give the home side a dream start.
A minute later it got even better for Craig Harrison’s side. Wilde managed to head in from six yards out to give TNS a two goal lead after only eight minutes. The forward found space in the box and managed to beat Williams with a looping header.
With fifteen minutes gone Kai Edwards smashed the cross bar from just outside the box as TNS continued to push forward.
Midway through the first half, Aeron Edwards skipped past Williams but his shot was cleared off the line by Dave Hayes.
Moments before the half time break, Wilde completed his brace to ensure that The Saints went into the break leading by three goals to nil. The striker tapped in from close range after Scott Quigley had done magnificently well to skip past a couple of challenges and fire a powerful shot which was parried by the Prestatyn ‘keeper.
The second half started in a similar manner and Cieslewicz rifled in a superb goal from just inside the box to make it four nil to TNS.
Darlington was brought on by Harrison and within minutes the former Wrexham man nearly added a fifth goal. The TNS number 20 hit his shot against the post as The Saints continued to dominate the game.
The creative forward didn’t have to wait long for another chance and he made no mistake when it did arrive. The substitute tapped in after a goalmouth scramble to make it five nil to TNS.
TNS added a sixth goal late on when Chris Marriott’s deflected cross ended up beating Williams and bounced into the net to conclude the scoring.
