TNS welcomed Torquay academy to The Venue for a Monday night fixture under the lights to face the U14s.
It was a frantic start to the match, Darren Evans scoring in the first minute, latching on to a through ball by Jack Vale and finishing neatly. Torquay replied almost instantly, a fantastic finish from range into the far top corner. TNS restarted the match, Tomos Williams with a fantastic reverse pass putting Jack Vale in, who put TNS back in front. Jack Vale was finding lots of space and scored his second moments later. Darren Evans scored his 2nd and TNS forth goal after 18 minutes, a fantastic lob from range with the Torquay keeper helplessly beaten. James Parry got upended in the box and picked himself up to score the resulting penalty with efficiency.
TNS started making a lot of changes and were losing a bit of fluidity. Torquay scored through a free kick. Jordan Tipping scored the goal of the game, the ball falling to him about 25 yards out at the left corner of the box and he hit the ball first time, finding the far top corner of the goal. Torquay pulled another back for their 3rd goal. Jacob Barrett scored TNS 7th, Darren Evans scored his hat trick and Sam Jones completed the scoring and continued his recent run with the 9th at the death.
After the game, coach Jason Brindley had this to say:
Good match this evening, mild autumn evening and always nice to play under the lights at The Venue. We came out of the blocks and looked very dangerous going forward. Some of the football played at times was easy on the eye. We lost a bit of the tempo when we made changes though. It’s nice to welcome Harry Bower and Liam Ihekwoba back into the squad, we are slowly getting back to full strength, competition for positions will push each boy on and aid their development. They know they must show the correct attitude and desire at all times, I feel we have a reasonably good mentality within the squad. We now look ahead to Cardiff City academy away on Thursday. I’d also like to thank Torquay for making the journey, great group of players.
