The New Saints beat Gap Connah’s Quay by two goals to nil at Park Hall Stadium.
Goals from Chris Seargeant and Mike Wilde sealed the points in the Corbett Sports Welsh Premier League fixture, as The Saints extended their lead at the top of the league.
The Saints started well but with only ten minutes played both Adrian Cieslewicz and Sam Finley fired chances over the bar.
Midway through the first half, the dynamic Finley, curled a brilliant effort towards the top corner but Terry McCormick palmed it away.
However, a minute later, Jamie Mullan was controversially brought down just inside the box and the referee pointed to the spot.
Seargeant stepped up and sent the goalkeeper the wrong way to put The Saints in the lead.
Seargeant then latched on to a great ball from Finley but pulled his shot wide as TNS continued to dominate.
The Saints started the second half in a similar fashion and continued to dictate the tempo of the game.
Midway through the second half, TNS made it two nil. Chris Marriott’s excellent cross was calmly headed in by Wilde to ensure The Saints doubled their advantage.
Craig Harrison sent on Greg Draper and Scott Quigley in search for another goal as The Saints carried on retaining possession.
However, the third goal didn’t arrive as TNS extended their lead at the top of the table.
