WHAT do The New Saints and FC Bayern Munich have in common?
Both are so far unbeaten in their league campaigns, both have a goal difference of plus 36 and both will also be top of their respective leagues at Christmas.
Pep Guardiola’s Bayern side have won 13 of their 16 Bundesliga fixtures so far this season, drawing the other three.
‘FC Hollywood’ have also scored an impressive 39 goals and conceded only three goals, which is a German record for this stage of the season.
Craig Harrison’s Saints also have a fantastic record this season, winning 12 of their 17 Corbett Sports Welsh Premier League fixtures and drawing the other five.
The prolific Saints have also scored a mesmerising 50 goals so far this season and conceded 14 ensuring a goal difference of +36.
With an average return of almost three goals per game, the eight-time Welsh Champions currently hold a nine-point lead over their nearest rivals Bala Town, who will visit Park Hall Stadium on Saturday the 20th of December.
Harrison, who has so far guided TNS to three WPL titles and two FAW Welsh Cups, highlighted the fact that there is still more work to do and that the players must not become complacent, ‘We have had a great start to the season but there is always room for improvement. Carl Darlington, Ed Harper and I are not the type of people to sit back and think we have won anything, because at this stage we have not won anything.
The former Barclays Premier league defender added, ‘We are always looking for that extra one per cent of improvement and the players also understand that. We have such a competitive squad that if you find yourself out of the team, it may take five or six games before you get another chance.’
