Darlington moves on to a new role at Wrexham

The New Saints First Team Coach Carl Darlington has decided to leave the club to join Wrexham FC in the Vanarama Conference.

Darlington joined The New Saints in May 2010 working alongside the clubs then Director of Football Mike Davies, with the pair successfully beating Irish Champions Bohemians in the UEFA Champions League qualifier in 2010.

Darlington was influential in bringing First Team Manager Craig Harrison to the club following Davies’ departure in January 2011, having worked previously with Harrison at Airbus UK Broughton. The newly formed partnership has helped The New Saints win the Welsh Premier title for a record eight times, winning three consecutive titles as well as winning the Welsh Cup in 2012 and 2014.

As a UEFA Pro Licence holder, Darlington played a major part in the club’s playing style, creating a unique football philosophy that runs throughout the club from the first team down to the young academy squads.

‘The New Saints wish Carl the very best with his new role’ commented Chairman Mike Harris. ‘Carl brought a great deal of technical professionalism and organisation to our club during his time with us and has helped develop the clubs football philosophy, leaving a unique legacy behind’ he concluded.’
