CORBETT SPORTS WELSH PREMIER DEVELOPMENT LEAGUE PLAYED AT PARK HALL STADIUM, OSWESTRY SUNDAY 15TH FEBRUARY 2015 MATCH.
REPORT BY STATTO.
The New Saints’ Under 19 team bounced back from their heart-breaking penalty shoot-out defeat away to Cardiff City Under 19s in the FAW Welsh Youth Cup Quarter Final 2 weeks earlier in style as they thrashed Llandudno U19s 8-0 in the Corbett Sports Welsh Premier Development League at Park Hall Stadium on Sunday (15th February).
This latest result in Saints’ unbeaten league start to the season sees Steve Evans’ side maintain their place at the top of the table, level on points with Airbus UK Broughton but with a slightly better goal difference and a game in hand over The Wingmakers ahead of the meeting between the sides at Park Hall Stadium on Wednesday 18th February.
Meanwhile, Llandudno’s defeat leaves them in 7th place in the table, level on points with Prestatyn Town but ahead of The Seasiders on goal difference. Saints opened their account in just the 3rd minute when James Jones’ long ball over the top found Matt Perry on the right, who crossed low for Tom Ash to fire a low right foot shot from the edge of the 6 yard box into Llandudno keeper Tristan Jones’ right hand corner.
It was 2-0 in the 8th minute when Harrison Millington’s low cross from the right to the far post found Nyasha Mwamuka who fired into Jones’ right hand corner from about 3 yards. It was eventually 3-0 in the 41st minute when Millington on the right fed Ryan Kershaw who played a one-two with Perry before sending a long ball to Ash, who took a touch before firing a right foot shot from about 12 yards into Jones’ right hand corner for his second of the game.
Then 55 seconds into stoppage time at the end of the half, it was 4-0 when James Papirnyk played a one-two with Mwamuka on the left before cutting in and crashing a fierce right foot shot from just inside the box past Jones at his right hand post for a stunning strike.
It was 5-0 in the 56th minute when Kershaw’s corner from the left to the near post found Mwamuka who back-heeled the ball under keeper Jones from 6 yards for his second goal of the afternoon.
It was 6-0 in the 68th minute when Papirnyk’s ball infield from the right found Kershaw who took a touch to control before sending a stunning right foot shot from 35 yards into Jones’ top left hand corner for a magnificent goal.
It was 7-0 in the 72nd minute when Kershaw’s short corner from the right was returned to him by Millington and Kershaw’s cross to the far post was missed by everyone before the ball ran to Ash, who set up sub Lewis Evans to fire a fierce left foot shot from just inside the left corner of the box into Jones’ left hand corner.
Then 90 seconds into a scheduled 2 minutes of stoppage time at the end, it was 8-0 when Kershaw sent a thunderous low free kick from just outside the box into Jones’ right hand corner to complete his brace and keep the defending champions top of the table.
