The New Saints of Oswestry Town beat Airbus UK by two goals to nil in the Corbett Sports Welsh Premier League to move one step closer to a fourth consecutive Welsh Premier League title.
Goals from Matty Williams and Adrian Cieslewicz secured the win for the Oswestry based club and maintained the unbeaten season.
The Saints took the lead in the third minute when Williams converted from the edge of the box after Andy Jones’ error to give Craig Harrison’s side a dream start to the game.
The visitors had a great chance to level but Glenn Rule scuffed his shot wide before Jordan Barrow’s powerful shot was expertly kept out by Paul Harrison.
Williams then had a chance to double the lead but shot over from ten yards out.
Moments before the half time break, Cieslewicz’s shot was palmed out by James Coates as The Saints continued to push forward.
The second half began with a dangerous attack from TNS but Chris Marriott’s powerful drive whistled inches wide of the post.
Ten minutes into the second half and Rule nearly equalised. Kai Edwards failed to clear a dangerous cross from the right but Rule’s shot rolled just wide with Harrison motionless.
With only twenty minutes remaining Barrow headed against the bar after a goalmouth scramble.
The Wingmakers then had a penalty appeal. Captain Jones went down in the box but the referee dismissed the appeal.
The visitors then won a free kick on the edge of the box but Tom Field’s curling effort was magnificently kept out by Harrison.
With only two minutes left to play, Cieslewicz sealed the points by dribbling into the box before curling the ball into the bottom corner to ensure victory for The Saints.
