Bala Preview

The New Saints of Oswestry Town can clinch the Corbett Sports Welsh Premier League title tomorrow afternoon by picking up a point against Bala Town.

The Saints are currently top with 67 points, 17 points clear of second placed Bala Town and with only six WPL fixtures to play, a solitary point will ensure a ninth League Championship for TNS.

TNS last played Bala in theWord Cup Final back in January and will be hoping for a similar result again. A goal from Chris Seargeant and a brace from Scott Quigley wrapped up the game for Craig Harrison’s side, who will be hoping for more of the same tomorrow.

TNS boss, Craig Harrison will be hoping to secure a fourth consecutive Welsh Premier League Championship after guiding the Oswestry based club to three titles over the past three years.

The former Barclays Premier league defender said, ‘We have been fantastic all season and I am delighted that we have the chance to win it on Saturday! The players have been brilliant since I first came to the club and I feel that we are as strong as we have ever been, which has been proven by the results.’

Harrison, who has so far guided TNS to three WPL titles, two FAW Welsh Cups and a Welsh league Cup during his time at Park Hall Stadium is also hoping to become the second manager in Welsh Premier League history to manage an unbeaten team for an entire season, ‘I have been very pleased with our performances all season and to get this close to be undefeated for an entire campaign is extremely pleasing but there is still a lot of hard work to do.’

TNS have twice before won the League for three years on the spin but as of yet have never won it for four successive years.

The Saints are also in the FAW Welsh Cup Semi-Final and will take on Harrison’s former side, Airbus.

The WPL match will take place at Park Hall Stadium and will be live on S4C. The fixture will kick off at 17:05pm.
