Hello and welcome to the very first Rev’s Ramblings – a new weekly feature here on The New Saints’ website. There will be an update every Monday, so don’t forget to check it out.
For my debut, I’m focusing on the Welsh Cup semi-final yesterday against Airbus UK at Newtown. Whether you watched it on Sgorio, or you were there in person, I’m sure you’ll agree with me that it was a tremendous climax.
It was great from a TNS perspective, of course, but I also think it was a good advert for Welsh football. With the treble dream still alive, plus the unbeaten season still on track, it was a happy team bus on the way back to Park Hall.
We had a good TNS Radio show with Jonny Drury, Sam Thomas, Gilbert Woolley and me taking over the press box at Latham Park. We never have the same number of guests at away games but we were still blessed to have three Saints on air.
Tallie and Cady Brazier, who play for TNS ladies’ U14’s and U10’s respectively, were joined by Graeme Kirkham who was making his radio debut.
Cady almost predicted the right score as well. Going for 3-2 to TNS, I was already congratulating her on air as, in the dying seconds, Scott Quigley added a fourth.
If you’re not aware, we have a competition on TNS Radio called Beat The Belle. It’s a just-for-fun thing, where Welsh Premier legend Cortez Belle gives us his prediction and we open it up for others to give us theirs.
With Mr Belle going for a 2-1 Airbus victory, we had over twenty guesses up against him, but no-one got it right this week. Fancy a go at this Friday’s game v Aberystwyth? Make sure you check out the TNS Twitter account over the next few days.
I’ll be back next Monday with more Ramblings. In the meantime, hope to see you at Park Hall on Friday for our final home game of the season. The Rev.
