The New Saints’ Sam Finley was again voted as Wrexham’s man of the match after the draw against Macclesfield Town in the Vanarama Conference.
The energetic midfielder was the man of the match last week when Wrexham drew with Dover and has been impressive since joining on loan from Corbett Sports Welsh Premier League Champions, The New Saints.
Current caretaker manager and former TNS assistant Carl Darlington was full of praise for Finely and said, ‘I have been in the Welsh Premier League for nine years beforehand and myself and Craig Harrison brought Sam into TNS going back four years ago. He was a young kid and we tried to teach him a trade and he deserves an opportunity. We gave him an opportunity to come here (to Wrexham) and he hasn’t put a foot wrong really in any of the games he as played.’
Darlington added , ‘He has shown great desire and a test of character, and he has worked hard in closing players down which is one of his biggest strengths and then when he wins the ball he has got a lot of quality. He has got quality and long range, short range of passing and he can balance off both feet, so he is an excellent player, it is not my decision unfortunately but he is one for the future and he deserves an opportunity.’
TNS Chairman Mike Harris, added, ‘It just goes to highlight that there are many good players within the League and it proves the quality of the players in the Welsh Premier. I am sure that Carl Darlington will be transforming Wrexham so that they can once again stand out and measure up against their proud history. However, like all good things it takes time.’
