u15s visit Man City's Etihad Campus

TNS 15’s travelled to Man Citys’ multi-million pound training complex on Saturday 25 April 2015.

The lads played on Man Citys’ Blue 3g pitch and the format was 3×25 minute games.

The lads started very brightly and looked to attack City from the 1st whistle. Dennis and Joe took total control of midfield and created the 1st chance playing in Aron, who saw his effort just go the wrong side of the post. TNS soon had another chance through the lively Ilan again his effort was pushed around the post by the advancing keeper. TNS took total control and had several more chances through Ilan, Aron, Sean and Ebu.

The 1st period somehow ended 0-0

The 2nd period started with City on the front foot and TNS holding firm.  Mike Owen limped off early into the game. Zak and Macca at centre back had to be on their guard against the big, powerful forward. City created a couple of chances but their efforts didn’t trouble Ben in goal. TNS capitalized on this and took the lead through Tom Hanna. Peter Fletcher got away from his marker and his pass was picked up by Tom and he calmly slotted the ball into the bottom corner.

2nd period 0-1 TNS

The 3rd period saw TNS looking to build on their lead and went close through Aron. His effort went just over the bar. TNS had the momentum and increased their lead through a fantastic goal from Ryan Smith. The ball was picked up in TNS half by Dennis bates and the ball was played between Jamie, Joe, Sean and Dennis. His pass was picked up by Peter and his through ball was picked up by Ryan on the edge of the box and curled his shot into the top corner of the City goal. The goal raised the lads again and looked like scoring every time they attacked. City looked to reduce the scoreline and their winger ran through and was stopped with a last ditch tackle by Jamie. The ball was picked up by Dennis who played the ball out wide to Ebu who ran from his own half and his initial shot was parried by the keeper. The defence failed to clear the ball and somehow Ebu managed to score.

3rd period 0-2 TNS

Full time Man City 0-3 TNS

Steve Monk commented ” A superb performance by all of the lads today. They adapted well to the blue pitch, the only 1 in the world! The lads went for it straight from the start, pressing the ball high up the pitch and moving the ball quickly. I thought Dennis and Joe were superb in the middle of midfield and were involved in everything. Tom Hannas movement for his goal was superb and a great finish, after an inch perfect through ball by Peter. Ryans goal started in our half and I think it was 7 passes before Smigger curled it into the top corner again another inch perfect pass from Peter.

Overall it was a superb team performance by all the lads and a big thank you to Man City for hosting us again.”
