TNS Questionnaire with Ian Williams

Name: IAN WILLIAMS

Role at the club: CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER

What was your favourite moment of the treble winning season? There are too many memorable moments in what has been and amazing season for the club. My top three would be our 5-0 away win at Bangor City, beating Bala in the final of theWord Cup and our Welsh Cup semi-final win against Airbus UK Broughton at Newtown and last minute victories at Newtown and Airbus
What was your favourite goal of the season? There have been some magnificent goals throughout the season but the one that stands out for me has to be Chris Seargeant’s last minute winner at Newtown back in October for us to win the game 3-2
Who was the most consistent performer for TNS?It’s a close call as I’ve been really impressed this season with young Connell Rawlinson. He has been one of our consistent performers throughout the season, however Simon Spender has once again stood out for me and is by far the best right sided player in the league.
Who was the most improved player for The Saints? Both Connell Rawlinson and Scott Quigley have had good seasons, Connell has made the centre back position his own and when given the opportunity Scott Quigley has caused opposition defences all sorts of problems with his strength and pace.
What made you proud of being involved with the record breaking Champions? To be involved in a successful professional football club and winning every domestic trophy on offer makes me feel really proud, we have a real football family philosophy at the club and we encourage all players whether it’s a first team player or a young academy player to express themselves and play the TNS way. It’s a real team effort and we have a good team of staff both on and off the pitch, together with 100% support and passion for further success from the owner and Chairman Mike Harris.
What are the challenges ahead for next season? There are three challenges as I see it. I. To progress in Europe, 2. To maintain our domestic dominance in Wales and 3. To encourage more local people to support the club on a regular basis. We do a great deal of work behind the scenes to make that happen and will continue to convince football followers that what we have is something special and great value for money.
