TNS Questionnaire with Niall Broe

Name: Niall Broe
Role at the club: Community Foundation Officer

What was your favourite moment of the treble winning season?

A highlight for me was the Friday evening fixture verses Newtown where we were 2-0 down and reduced to 10 men and came back to win 4-2 with Greg Draper scoring all 4 goals. We also had large groups in hospitality and 20+ students from the Derwen College who provided demonstrations at half time and featured on TNS Radio. It was great to have so many people in attendance for such a thrilling game.

What was your favourite goal of the season?

Matty Williams 1st goal at the Welsh Cup Final stands out, great first touch and calm finish.

Who was the most consistent performer for TNS?

After only loosing one game all season it difficult to single out one player. Chris Marriott has had a fantastic season and along with Spender one of the first names on the team sheet each week. With Mazz winning players player at the TNS Annual Awards it shows his teammates would agree he has been one of the most consistent performers this season.

Who was the most improved player for The Saints?

Over the two seasons I have been involved with the club I would say Connell Rawlinson has been most improved. He seems to have secured a regular starting position at centre half this season putting in some impressive performances. It was a shame to see him leave the field early due to injury during the Welsh Cup Final at Newtown. Hopefully we will see him return in time for the Champions League fixtures.

What made you proud of being involved with the record breaking Champions?

For me it’s the work the Football Club allows the Community Foundation team to do, without the team’s success none of what we do would be possible. It great to see the footballers being used as positive role models along with the club providing a safe environment to facilitate activity for youngsters of Oswestry and surrounding areas.

What are the challenges ahead for next season?

I think everybody involved at the club would like to see progression within the Champions League Competition. The focus will then be back onto the League and looking to retain the treble along with to do so undefeated to build on what was achieved this season. The Community Foundation Team will be encouraging as many people as possible to come down to the Park Hall Stadium and enjoy the journey with us.
