Last Wednesday, basking in the glorious Oswestry sunshine, we took to the town centre to engage with the local community. When I say ‘we’, that is Niall Broe, Ewan Ellis, Gilbert Woolley, Philipp Ecker and me.
In with the outdoor market people, we set up a table, displayed various trophies and engaged with passers-by to spread the good news of TNS. We had a great time and some really positive conversations ensued.
If you’re a regular follower of the club Twitter feed then no doubt you will have seen the steady stream of photos that accompanied our time on the street. There was also a piece on the website, as well as Facebook posts, both from the club and various individuals.
We even had a Shropshire Star photographer show up, so you may well have seen our ugly mugs in the paper this last week. We will be back again for the next two Wednesdays – from 10.00 am until 1.00 pm – so if you’re out and about in Oswestry then come and say hello.
I mentioned in last week’s column that I had been asked by Pete Wilson to host the first TNS Ladies awards night. That was on Saturday just gone and it went very well. It was a great honour to be invited to serve the club in this way.
The event was held in the function room at The Venue and the attendance was excellent. Full credit to Pete and the team for the hard work and effort that went into the evening.
There is a great set-up within TNS Ladies and I’ve been truly impressed with everything that I’ve seen so far this season – both on and off the pitch. I’m certainly looking forward to taking in a few games next season. Why not get behind our girls and do the same?
Finally, this coming Sunday (June 21) there is a charity game at Park Hall, kicking off at 1.30 pm. There are a number of celebrities taking part from the likes of Emmerdale, Hollyoaks, Coronation Street etc.
We’re covering the game live on TNS Radio as well, so if you can’t make it then tune in. The link is on the TNS home page. Got any questions you’d like me to ask? Check out the celebrities present via TNS social media and then tweet us.
I don’t watch much TV and the only soaps I engage with are the ones in the bathroom. Therefore I’ve got plenty of researching to do prior to the game. I’m looking forward to the interviews we’ll be doing though. Hopefully see you there!
