Goalless Draw at Maes Tegid

The New Saints and Bala Town played out a goalless draw at Maes Tegid in the Dafabet Welsh Premier League.

Going into the game, both sides were unbeaten and the result ensured that both teams still are despite The Saints being on top for large periods of the game.

With only five minutes played, Simon Spender nearly broke the deadlock but his shot was superbly saved by John Irving on the line.

Minutes later and Ashley Morris was forced into an excellent save after Mike Wilde had done well to head towards the bottom left corner.

With The Saints enjoying the majority of possession, Aeron Edwards then tested Morris with an acrobatic half volley bur once again the Bala goalkeeper was able to palm it away.

Just before half time, Lee Hunt headed wide from a corner as the half finished goalless.

The Saints dominated large periods of the second half but were unable to find a way through.

Craig Harrison sent on Matty Williams with ten minutes to play and within seconds the TNS number 10 nearly broke the deadlock. However his slick turn and low shot was palmed out by Irving.

With only seconds to play, TNS nearly won it but were thwarted by some resolute defending from the home side.
