Rev's Ramblings

You can never have too much of a good thing, can you? Well, that’s more of a rhetorical question actually, especially as I direct it toward the football fan. With two games a week the norm at the moment, I’m definitely enjoying that aspect of being involved with The New Saints.

First up, we were in seventh heaven as we cruised into the quarter-finals of theWord Cup, courtesy of the 7-1 victory against Holywell Town. There was no doubt as to the player we chose to be interviewed by TNS TV following the game, as five-goal Greg Draper took his place in front of the camera.

Whether in the more formal setting of an interview, or just chatting away from the camera, I always enjoy talking with Greg. He’s a very level-headed young man and is a good ambassador for The New Saints, both on and off the pitch.

For the game itself we had Holywell fan, Clint Jones, with us on TNS Radio. Clint is a ground-hopping blogger and runs the 94th minute website. Check it out via an Internet search. Clint was great and we had a good show.

Wearing his red and white scarf around his neck and me bedecked in TNS gear, it was a good example of all that is good about Welsh football. When I tell people that we only have one turnstile at Park Hall and all fans share it, they’re amazed.

The second game of the week saw us back in league action and again at Park Hall. The visitors, Bangor City, were left hovering just above the relegation places as we won 2-0. It wasn’t until right at the end though that the points were secured.

Chris Marriott’s wonder-goal ensured that he was the player chosen for the post-match chat this time round. I’m enjoying doing the interviewing on TNS TV and don’t forget you can check them all out via the link on the club website.

This last week also saw the release of our fourth episode of TNS Radio Football Show. Our guest for this one was Wales international and Park Hall legend, Steve Evans. Although he complimented me on my singing performance in Hungary, I still failed to make the cut for the fictitious TNS boy band.

To find out who did make it, as well as who crumbled like a digestive when it was his turn to perform, visit the website and go to the podcast link. You can also find out who TNS’ worst golfer is. Well, according to Steve anyway. The right of reply is to be afforded. Watch this space.
