TNS U12s started the game brightly, moving the ball quickly, however were struggling to create clear scoring opportunities. TNS did take the lead through TJ Burns late on in the first half, TJ showing great grit and determination. Despite leading as the game at half time, TNS struggled to apply their passing game and both teams were guilty of being wasteful in possession.
The second half continued to the same pattern, both teams hoofing the ball back and two. TNS did create a few chances and were unlucky not to double the lead.
As always in football, if you are unable to take chances when they present themselves, it could come back to bite you and it did on this occasion. Rhyl equalised with 10mins remaining, a free kick being spilt and the Rhyl forward was quickest to react. And at the death, a corner was cleared but put back in by a Rhyl player and his cross lobbing keeper Harrison who was being impeded by a Rhyl player on the line, to finish the game 2-1 to Rhyl.
After the game, Jason Brindley said:
“Disappointing game of football today by both sides. We never turned up. The passing was poor, we weren’t comfortable in possession, which is disappointing from such a talented group of players. Whilst I did feel we battled well, there was too much hesitancy to get rid of the ball. It was ugly football. Whilst it is easy to look at the players missing today, work needs to be done.”

Airbus 4 TNS 3
We returned to play Airbus again, following our very close game a few weeks ago. Airbus started the stronger and took the lead after 9 minutes. Almost immediately we equalised through Will Nevitt. 5 minutes later Airbus took the lead again after a break down the right and a good cross leaving a tap in at the far post.
The third Airbus goal came from a scramble in our area and the ball went in after a couple of rebounds, leaving our keeper David Williams with no chance of a save.
In the second third, Airbus scored a fourth goal with a fierce shot from the edge of the area again leaving David no chance.
In the final third TNS started to play better and close down the opponents quicker, we were rewarded with the improved play when we were awarded a penalty following a trip in the box. Ben Buley scored the penalty on his return to the club. Will Nevitt scored his second of the game and TNS’ third to make it a closer scoreline.
Squad : David, Ryan, Regan, Louis, Jack B, James PJ, Jack P, Shane, Alfie, Robbie, Will, Luke, Spencer, Matt, Ben, Trystan, Josh, Kyle
Goalscorers: Will Nevitt(2), Ben Buley
Coach Mark Evans said “Another close game against a very good Airbus team, we were poor in the 2nd third and after some words of encouragement from Carl Parrish we were much improved in the final third. We now need to maintain a consistent performance level throughout the whole game”
