TNS 9 Airbus 4
We welcomed Airbus to the Venue on Saturday morning which we knew was going to be a difficult game as they beat us last time at Airbus. The game was very evenly matched but we fell behind and were 1-0 down after the first quarter. From then on we started to play really well and our passing and decision making in the final third was some of the best we have done this season. We went onto win the game 9-4. The goal scorers for TNS were Jayden, Ronnie, Patrick and Ellis scoring 5.
The squad for the game was: Oliver, Sam, Liam, Nikolas, Louie, Jayden, Rui, Patrick, Ellis and Ronnie.

The New Saints Under 9’s played host to a strong Airbus side Saturday morning, a competitive match packed full of quality players.
The home team had to be at their best to compete, and did so with some fantastic attacking football and team work. Solid in defence and dangerous up top; it was a good all round performance.
After the match Under 9’s Coach Kieran have his thoughts “We were a little slow to start off on Saturday but once we found our feet we played some excellent football” “I was particularly pleased with how well we played out from the back” “I also thought our decision making in the final 3rd was superb”.

After some very impressive recent performances we were looking forward to welcoming Airbus to The Venue. The previous meeting ended in an 8-1 defeat for us so we knew we needed to improve to at least close the gap on the scoresheet.
The lads started well creating several chances resulting in some very good saves from the Airbus GK and a barrage of Corners for the away team to defend which they did very well. The pressure finally told and we took the lead through Ieuan Jones-Welstead and things were looking positive. This goal however sparked Airbus into life and almost with their very next attack they drew level with a strike into the bottom corner from range. This drawing the first quarter to a close.
Unfortunately Airbus took a grip of the game after this point and for a while we seemed to be chasing shadows in both the second and third quarters. Airbus retained possession well and created several chances and deserved to go into the fourth quarter 7-1 in front.
With nothing to lose, to their credit the boys rallied and showed a good attitude and fighting spirit in the fourth quarter to create the better chances and score the only goal of the quarter through Oliwier Fiedor. The game ended 7-2. Closer than the previous meeting but having set some very high standards in recent weeks we were well short of the football the team have showed they can play. The team went home understanding what Airbus did so well and where we were lacking so although the result was negative the experience will have a positive effect on the team going forward.

Another excellent performance from the Saints saw them run out 7-1 winners. it was an accomplished display from start to almost the finish with only a last minute goal blotting the scoreline for the boys in green…The lads have upped their individual and team level over the last few weeks. So the challenge was, can they now be more consistent with the style of play. High pressing from the forward players making it difficult for teams to get out, then winning the ball back and then finding the right pass to quickly create scoring opportunities for themselves, which they did time and again to their credit…The goals themselves were all different types from well worked team goals, to a quite imaginative finish. The pick of the bunch came from the baby of the squad Ralfie with an absolute rocket into the top corner which ended with the lads mobbing Ralfie to enjoy the moment, which was great to see…The other goals that were scored went to jazz with another brace who after a slow start to the season is showing what a handful and a good predator he’s becoming in the box…also with 2 was our jet healed winger Eric who when gets a player 1v1 there is usually only two outcomes either a cross, or as we’ve seen today a couple of nicely taken goals…toddy who scored probably the most imaginative goal I’ve seen from someone so young when the ball was flicked on to him and with the keeper closing managed to somehow flick the ball round him whilst he himself was facing his own goal…Top notch…and last but not least Josh Evans with a MOM performance scored the first goal to get the saints off to a great start to the match within the first 5 mins…His all round game in different positions either wide or centre mid and even at the back picking defence splitting passes shows his increasing understanding of the game as a whole…The boys at the back although weren’t really tested today did an excellent job snuffing out any potential threats and setting the attacking players on their way doing the simple things the right way….well done gents extremely impressed…

Cefn Druids 1 TNS 4
Team: Harrison, Bobby, Ryan, Jay, Will, Taylor, Rhys, Jez, Hari, Harry, TJ, Tom.
Saints started well early with TJ forcing the opposition GK into a fine save.
Despite some more pressure from away side it was Druids who took the lead when a defensive mix up allowed their winger an easy tap in to open the scoring.
TNS reacted well and produced lots of opportunities. Jez and Rhys both looked really dangerous and it was latter who found the equaliser when he fired in top corner.
Harry, Jez and Taylor all came close for TNS, but it wasn’t all plain sailing.
It took an incredible double save from Harrison in goal to keep the game level.
Moments later though TNS did take the lead seconds before HT when Rhys again fired another unstoppable strike top corner.
During the second half TNS demonstrated real class as they took the game to Druids. Playing with real confidence only a number of real quality saves from the opposition GK after good work from Tom and Hari prevented the game from being out of sight.
Equally good in goal and outfield Harrison left the sticks to take up left wing, he rewarded the team straight away when he fired home from close range.
The game was won when Harry Holland fired a beautiful volley top corner from 15 yards out. A reward for his hard work during the match.
Bobby did save a penalty late on for TNS but it was a fairly comfortable morning for the Saints.
After the match 12’s Coach Kieran said “I thought we played really well today, we were caught out early but reacted really well – We were really hard to beat defensively and dangerous up top, overall a really positive performance – I was most pleased with our ability to pass the ball round on a very average pitch well done to the team”.

Shea, David, Regan, Liam, Matt, Luke, Alfie, Spencer, Shane, James PJ, Josh, Will, Robbie, Ben
Goalscorers: Will Nevitt & Robbie Bateman
After 2 very close games against Airbus recently, this encounter was not as close as the result suggests. Airbus started the brighter and dominated possession in the first half. TNS struggled to get a foot hold in the game. Airbus took the lead and added a further 2 goals in the first half. Despite the half time score, Shea Lockyer was having an excellent game in goal making several good saves.
In the 2nd half TNS improved and pulled a goal back from the ever impressive Will Nevitt with a good strike from the edge of the area. Airbus hit back with another goal to make the score 1-4. Shortly after TNS pulled one back with good combination between Will and Robbie Bateman and it was Robbie who scored with a neat finish. It was the turn of TNS keeper David Williams to pull off some good saves in goal. Airbus did get the final goal in the game to make the final score 2-5.
Coach Mark Evans said “Sometimes to have to hold your hands up and say that we were 2nd best today – credit to Airbus they played very well. Both keepers (Shea and David) had very good games make some outstanding saves”

TNS 3 Airbus 0
TNS started bright, with Sam Fowles being a threat down the right hand side and delivering dangerous balls into the box.
Airbus grew into the game and started putting TNS under pressure, with the saints struggling to apply their normal passing game.
Despite this, it what the young Saints who took the lead on the stroke of half time, Liam Parry latching on to a loose ball and cleverly lifting it over the advancing Airbus keeper.
TNS came out for the second half looking more of a threat. The passing was quicker and had more purpose. The second goal was a treat. 1 touch pass and move on the edge of the box involving 4 players, with Parry getting his second of the game.
TNS wrapped it up shortly after, Liam scoring his hattrick with a fantastic left foot volley from a James Parry cross.
Afterwards, 15s Coach Jason Brindley said:
“Game of 2 half’s today. We were very poor first half, and the players were told this in no uncertain terms at half time, they weren’t good enough and I expected better. It had a positive effect as it was near to the perfect second half performance. We controlled the game and were moving the ball quicker. Looking forward to upcoming games.”
