The New Saints of Oswestry Town lost in the Dafabet Welsh Premier League for the first time this season, going down by two goals to nil to gap Connah’s Quay.
Gap Connah’s Quay began the game well and knowing that win would guarantee a top six finish, they had a perfect start.
After early pressure, TNS gave away a penalty and Callum Morris confidently stepped up and sent Paul Harrison the wrong way to open the scoring.
Minutes later, Shaun Miller amazingly blocked the ball when it the Nomads looked destined to score.
TNS then found themselves two nil down when Les Davies latched on to a Wes Baynes corner and headed past Harrison to double the home advantage.
Midway through the half, Simon Spender’s deep cross bounced off the cross bar but was then cleared before Scott Quigley had a chance to pounce on the ball.
The second half began with the home side pressing and Wes Baynes was unlucky to see his shot fly inches wide of the post after his curling effort had looked on target.
Craig Harrison sent on Greg Draper and Danny Gosset in search of a way back into the game but were unable to break down a resolute Nomads defence.
With only five minutes left, TNS continued to push forward and nearly managed to pull a goal back through Aeron Edwards. However the midfielder shot wide from six yards after finding space in the box.
The Saints continued trying but were unable to get a goal and lost 2-0.
