The New Saints Chief Operating Officer Ian Williams has just returned from the first of a series of knowledge sharing sessions with the ECA (European Club Association) who have recently established a Club Management Programme for Senior Executives in football clubs throughout Europe.
The first session took place at the home of German Champions Bayern Munich and included presentations and case studies on Strategy and Leadership from Manchester City and City Football Group CEO Ferran Soriano, FC Brugge Chairman Bart Verhaeghe, FC Basel Chairman Bernhard Heusler and Lech Poznan Vice President Piotr Rutkowski.
The programme, in conjunction with Stockholm Business School, is a new venture and aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of the participants in all areas of football club management. The programme consists of six interactive seminars covering football related areas such as Leadership and Strategy, Sports, Business and Community Activities, Club Operations and Legal, Club Environment and Communications over the next eighteen months.
The first session in Munich was extremely beneficial and provided a thought provoking insight into Leadership and Strategy in Football sharing case studies looking at crisis management and change management strategies’
Hopefully I’ll be able to take learnings from the sessions and use them to further benefit the success of our club and the domestic game generally in Wales
