Saints Bring in Brobbel

The New Saints of Oswestry Town are delighted to announce the signing of Northern Ireland Under 21 International Ryan Brobbel, subject to International clearance.

The former Middlesbrough Under 21’s Captain has joined The Saints having spent a brief spell at Whitby Town.

Brobbel had been with Middlesbrough from the age of five and signed a three year professional contract with them back in 2011.

The 22 year old has also had football league experience, playing for both York City and Hartlepool United.

Born in Hartlepool, he is eligible to represent England, the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland and has been on training camps with both Irish teams.

He played for the Northern Ireland Under 17, Under 18 and Under-19 teams before making his debut for the Under 21’s in a 3–0 away defeat against Malta in May 2013.

Brobbel scored for the Under 21’s in a 2–1 home defeat to Serbia in a 2015 UEFA European Under 21 Championship qualification match on the 9th of September 2014 and has earned nine caps.

Brobbel can play on both wings and can also play as a number ten behind the striker.

Ryan will wear the number 8 shirt for The Saints.
