The New Saints of Oswestry Town extended their lead at the top of the Dafabet Welsh Premier League to nine points after a 5-0 win against Airbus UK at Park Hall Stadium.
A brace from Greg Draper in the first half made it two nil before a Phil Baker header made it three minutes into the second half. Jamie Mullan added a fourth goal before substitute Scott Quigley made it five.
TNS took the lead on the 20th minute thanks to Draper after Adrian Cieslewicz’s brilliant cross had been dummied by Matty Williams.
Midway through the half, Jordan Barrow’s powerful free kick was expertly saved by TNS captain Paul Harrison.
The match was then stopped when Andy Jones picked up a nasty looking head injury but moments after the game resumed, Draper completed his brace and made it 2-0. The striker latched onto a defensive mistake and beat James Coates to double The Saints’ advantage.
The second half began with Baker heading in from close range after meeting a dangerous looking corner to all but secure the three points for The Saints.
Minutes later, Cieslewicz dribbled nearly the length of the pitch before setting up Williams who was thwarted by Coates from just inside the box.
With just over twenty minutes to go Mullan cut in from the right hand side and smashed the ball past Coates to give The Saints a four goal lead.
Substitute Quigley then smashed in the fifth with one of his first touches of the game and Airbus hit the bar late on when substitute Liam Blake struck from the edge of the box.
