The New Saints of Oswestry Town lost 2-1 to gap Connah’s Quay in the Dafabet Welsh Premier League at Deeside Stadium.
A Chris Seargeant penalty had given TNS the lead in the first half but second half goals from Les Davies and Callum Morris won the game for The Nomads.
In what was an uneventful first half, shots from Scott Quigley and Ashley Raune threatened to break the deadlock but both goalkeepers were alert enough to keep the ball out.
With five minutes until half time, Quigley was brought down on the edge of the box and from the resulting free kick, Chris Marriott forced John Danby into a superb save down to his left.
However, the first half ended with TNS winning a penalty. In what was virtually the last kick of the half, Seargeant confidently converted to give TNS the lead at half time.
TNS began well in the second half but found themselves level on the 52nd minute when Davies managed to bundle in from close range.
The equaliser had seemed to inspire The Nomads who then took the lead through Morris in the 58th minute after he found space inside the box and headed in from six yards out.
With twenty minutes to play, gap’s Danny Harrison was sent of after a two footed lunge on Simon Spender.
However, TNS couldn’t find a way past Gap and the home side nearly extended the lead when Davies’ superb volley flew inches over the bar.
Phil Baker then came close to levelling but his powerful half volley was blocked and despite TNS pushing men forward, the equaliser never came.
