The New Saints’ Chris Seargeant has urged The Saints to kick on after Saturday’s away defeat against gap Connah’s Quay and is focused on getting over the winning line.
The Saints lost 2-1 at the Deeside Stadium despite going into the break leading thanks to a wonderful Seargeant penalty but the TNS midfielder admitted the team didn’t kick on after taking the lead, ‘We needed to kick on from that but it wasn’t to be. It’s never nice when you get beat, especially as we kind of felt like we owed these one after they beat us last time.’
The Nomads went down to ten men midway through the second half, but TNS couldn’t grab an equaliser and the TNS number seven said, ‘When they went down to ten men they dropped off and there was a little bit more space and we were able to get more balls into the box but we were unable to find a way through.’
The Saints will take on Newtown on Saturday with the possibility of clinching the title and Seargeant said, ‘With only a few games left, we have to kick on now and get over the winning line so we will switch our focus onto Newtown on Saturday and hopefully get the job done. ‘
