The New Saints of Oswestry Town clinched a fifth consecutive Dafabet Welsh Premier League title and manager Craig Harrison was understandably delighted to lift the title.
Harrison joined TNS in 2011 and has guided The Saints to five WPL titles on the bounce and said, ‘They say a great team win the championship but an even better one defends it and we have defended it five times in a row.’
The Saints who have already secured theWord Cup this season, will take on Airbus UK in the FAW Welsh Cup Final and Harrison is keen to secure another treble this year, ‘We will be looking at winning a domestic treble for the second consecutive year which would be an incredible achievement from the players and coaching staff.’
Knowing that a victory would secure the title, TNS managed to find a way past Bala just after the hour mark thanks to Ryan Brobbel’s first goal for the club and Harrison was full of praise for Bala,’They were organised and got men behind the ball and tried to play on the counter attack. They made it difficult for us but we found a way through in the end and scored two good goals. Colin has done a fantastic job there so it would be nice for them to go and finish second now.’
The former Barclays Premier League defender added that he had always had belief in the players, ‘We all believe in what we are doing and the belief is the most important thing. We have an experienced group of players who have never let me or the club down.’
