The New Saints of Oswestry Town will once again be competing in the UEFA Champions League next season after securing a fifth consecutive Dafabet Welsh Premier League title on Saturday, and for The Saints’ latest addition, Ryan Brobbel is looking forward to making his debut in the World’s best club competition.
The former Middlesbrough man is hopeful he can help his teammates through a number of rounds and said, ‘Obviously when I first came here, Craig Harrison made it clear to me that I will have a chance to play in the Champions League and it is good exposure for all of the lads here. I am looking forward to the games and hopefully I can help the lads progress as far as possible in the competition.’
Brobbel saved his first goal for the club for a big occasion and it was his goal that finally broke the deadlock on Saturday, ‘Quigley had done well getting down the left and drove into the box and luckily I managed to toe poke the ball into the goal. They defended well but I think the goal was coming and they weren’t really in the game that much and it was a good time to get the goal.’
The Saints will once again go into the UEFA Champions League first qualifying round with the draw set to take place on Monday the 20th of June.
