The New Saints of Oswestry Town are to hold open trials this month for their prestigious football academy. The academy, which is made up of over 150 players aged between six and 16, boasts fully qualified UEFA coaches and is headed up by TNS Assistant Manager and Head of Youth Development, Scott Ruscoe.
“We pride ourselves on being able to provide a clear pathway from youth football to the professional game. The benchmark of our youth programme is to bring as many players through our academy system as possible, with the ultimate goal of progressing into our first team, or even better, international selection for the player’s chosen country.”
Trials will be held at the club’s Park Hall stadium near Oswestry.
Recent success stories from this season’s TNS youth set up include 15-year-old Jack Vale, who after joining the academy aged 12/13 was selected for Wales as part of their winning Victory Shield squad. Goalkeeper Andy Wycherley, who recently played for England College’s under-18 side, and defender Ryan Pryce (18), who progressed through the TNS academy and scholarship is now playing first team football. Other TNS academy players have been selected for trials at Blackburn, Everton and Manchester City this season.
