Following back-to-back cup games, it’s the bread-and-butter of the JD Welsh Premier League on Tuesday (October 10 2017) as The New Saints of Oswestry Town head to Connah’s Quay.
It’s the second Tuesday on the bounce that the league champions will have played in Flintshire, following last week’s Nathaniel MG Cup victory at Flint Town United.
Sandwiched in-between the visits to Wales’ north-east county was Saturday’s home win against Elgin City, in the Irn-Bru Cup.
The New Saints go into the game with an impressive statistic of fourteen goals scored in the last three games (in all competitions), with just one conceded.
Although Scott Ruscoe’s side have conceded five goals so far this season, they all came on opening night at Bangor City. The six league games since then have all produced clean sheets.
The Nomads currently have the tightest defence in the JD WPL, having been found out just three times in seven matches. They have yet to concede more than one goal in a game.
We caught up with TNS’ Greg Draper ahead of the fixture to get his thoughts on the trip to the Deeside Stadium on Tuesday: “You know what you’re going to get from them, it’s going to be a different type of match (speaking after the Elgin game). We’re going to have to stand up to the challenge that they always throw against us. As long as we all do our job though, then hopefully we can come away with three points.”
Kick-off is 7.45 pm and if you’re not there in person, don’t miss out as you can follow the action via TNS Radio. We will be on air ahead of the game and the link is here on our website home page.
