TNS Academy Players Of The Month – October 2017

Well done to everyone who has achieved the POTM in their respective age group. You have all worked very hard and the club as a whole is very proud of your achievement.

The awards were presented on the pitch at halftime last Saturday, when the first team played Barry Town United, and winger Jamie Mullan did the honours.

Jason Brindley brings us a rundown on each individual:

Under 7s – Spencer Taylor

Spencer has trained really well this month and is starting to develop his game in a positive way and is enjoying his football.

Under 8s – Jenson McArdle

Great commitment with attendance to training and games this month and after his TTMP meeting Jenson has taken on board what was spoken about.

He has massively improved his concentration and discipline in training, resulting in some outstanding performances in recent matches, with good decision making, assisting and scoring goals. Well done Jenson.

Under 9s – Gruff Hamer

Gruff has had a fantastic month, lots of goals and assists for the team. His attacking mind-set and ability to take on players along with his decision making on when to release the ball to others is extremely impressive for an U9..

He has a good understanding of the game and works extremely hard for his team.

Well done Gruff.

Under 10s – Nikolas Slosarczyk

Nikolas has shown great attitude to games and training and always plays with a smile on his face. His ability to win the ball and start attacks from anywhere on the pitch has been a real asset, with his performance at Wrexham being a stand-out. Being so well-rounded allows him to play anywhere on the pitch, willing to do a job for his team. Well done.

Under 11s – Jakub Slosarczyk

Jakub’s had a great month for TNS with some standout performances against Manchester United, Wrexham and Tranmere Rovers. He has a fantastic attitude and is always asking for feedback to help improve his overall game.

Jakub is a player we rate very highly at TNS and we can’t wait to continue helping him reach his potential.

Under 12s – Ethan Brown

Ethan has an outstanding attitude towards learning and developing as a footballer in training and also during games.

He is a dynamic little player that gives his absolute all every time he steps onto a football pitch. He works tirelessly in midfield to support the central defenders when out of possession.

Ethan shows bravery looking to create space and receive the ball in the defensive third to contribute to playing out from the back and attacking play through the thirds.

Under 13s – Osian Williams

Osian has made a positive impact since joining our Academy in the summer. He works hard for his team mates and shows a good attitude in training.

Under 14s – Eddie Lewington

Eddie’s a very driven individual with fantastic ability and huge potential. He’s had a brilliant month, which included some standout performances against Cefn Druids and Chester, along with being an ever-present at training.

Unfortunately Eddie suffered a serious injury last Sunday so he’ll be out of action for a few weeks. However He’s a very driven, committed young lad and we can’t wait to help his recovery and have him back very soon. Keep up the great work Eddie!

Under 15s – Iwan Roberts

Iwan has had a brilliant month where his understanding of the game tactically has grown so much. His commitment and work ethic is unquestionable and this has been recognised by our Academy Director, Jason Brindley, where Iwan has trained and played with our Under 16s on several occasions to further his development.

Under 16s – Luis Edwards

Luis has had a very good month with our eldest Academy age group. Luis is an ever present at training and has developed his overall understanding of the game, playing in numerous positions and systems.

He has topped it off by scoring a couple of incredible goals. Well done Luis.

E1 –Sam Finley

Sam has been excellent in a defence which has seen only 4 goals conceded in 8 matches. He has adapted well to play as a centre back in a back 4 and 3, whilst also stepping in at left back. He works extremely hard both on and off the pitch and is an absolute credit to the Professional Phase.

E2 – Pam Chatha

Pam has continued to develop with Si and Nick which has seen him rewarded with appearances for the Category 1 side and U19s. He is hungry to continue to learn and considering he has never been a part of an academy previously, looks unfazed when stepping into the right back position.

Looking at the big picture over the month, Jason added:

Congratulations to all our players of the month from October. It has been an extremely busy and positive one from all youth sections of the club.  The Foundation Phase has had some amazing experiences and opportunities including fixtures against Manchester United, Stoke City and Wolves to name a few. All the players have done really well.

Our Development phase have a more detailed programme but again have started the season well. U12/14/16s made the FAW Super6, all topping their groups and our U15s welcomed the Thailand national team to Park Hall Stadium.

Our U13s are starting to show good understanding of the TNS DNA and have had a couple of strong performances.

Finally, the Professional Phase remain unbeaten in the JD Welsh Premier Development League and numerous players have had first team opportunities. It’s great to see as that’s what all the staff and players are working towards.

Well done to all our outstanding players of the month for a successful October.”
