It’s Caernarfon Town In The JD Welsh Cup Round Four

This evening the draw was made for the 4th round of the JD Welsh Cup, as last season’s beaten finalists The New Saints of Oswestry Town were in the pot along with fifteen other teams.

Shown live on S4C’s Heno (Tonight) programme, we were out in the fourth pairing, with an away tie at Caernarfon Town to look forward to in the New Year.

This will be the second time that the sides will have faced each other this season, following the 2-0 Park hall victory for The New Saints back in October. The Nathaniel MG Cup victory was sealed with an early Seargeant penalty and a late Darlington goal as he confirmed the holders’ passage into the last four. Since then, of course, TNS have now made the final, which is also scheduled for January.

The JD Welsh Cup game will be played on the weekend of January 27/28 2018, with confirmation of the exact details in due course.

The Welsh Cup is the oldest of the domestic trophies with teams first competing in the competition in the 1877-1878 season. The New Saints have made ten final appearances and lifted the trophy half a dozen times. By contrast, Caernarfon have yet to make the final.
