Report by Steve Benyon
On Sunday January 14th 2018, 13 of the Professional Phase players faced Caernarfon Town away in the JD Welsh Premier Development League.
Together we knew it wouldn’t be our normal style of play due to the state of the pitch, and this was apparent with a very lacklustre first half, which ended 1-1, with Rob Reynolds equalising 5 minutes before half time.
After a few stern words at half time, the boys came out much more prepared, and were rewarded with their persistence through goals from Rob Reynolds, Paul Naylor and Dennis Bates.
The game ended disappointingly with yet again sloppy play resulting in a 45 yard wonder strike, with the final whistle confirming a 4-2 victory.
We all agreed at full time that the performance was unacceptable, but the spirit and belief in the squad was still evident, with the boys looking to put things right during next week’s training topic; defending from wide areas.
In addition there are two games on Wednesday against Rochdale and Warwickshire, followed by a free Sunday due to eight boys receiving international call ups.
