Following the 1-0 victory at Connah’s Quay Nomads over the weekend in the JD Welsh Premier League (JD WPL), it’s back to Park Hall on Tuesday, February 27 2018.
Although the reigning champions have been at the top of the pile for some weeks now, the placings among the chasing pack have fluctuated on a weekly basis. As Bala Town’s rise continues, this time it’s a case of 1st v 3rd, as the race for European places continues.
The New Saints go into the game with a twelve-point lead over second-placed Bangor City, and a fourteen-point gap between them and the Lakesiders, as the club closes in on a seventh consecutive league title.
This will be the third JD WPL encounter of the season between the sides, with The New Saints running out 3-0 victors on both previous occasions. Back in August 2017, it was a Blaine Hudson header that broke the deadlock in the second period. A brace from Wes Fletcher sealed the win.
In the first game of 2018, a trip to Maes Tegid in atrocious conditions again saw all three goals scored in the second half. Once more Fletcher found the net late on, with Marriott and Brobbel the other names on the scoresheet.
Going into Tuesday’s game, The New Saints remain unbeaten in domestic football this year while Bala Town have suffered defeat just once – in the aforementioned game against TNS.
