The January Manager Of The Month and Player Of The Month awards have been announced this evening by the JD Welsh Premier League (JD WPL) and we are extremely pleased to announce that nominees Scott Ruscoe and Aeron Edwards have both been declared winners in their respective categories.
TNS’ midfielder expressed his personal delight: “It’s nice to be recognised and awarded Player Of The Month. It’s also recognition of our performances of late.”
In a five-game month, The New Saints of Oswestry Town maintained a 100% record against tough opposition. With JD WPL wins at Maes Tegid and Bastion Gardens against Bala Town and Prestatyn Town respectively, those 3-0 and 4-1 scorelines were complemented by a 2-1 victory at Park Hall, as Bangor City were the visitors.
Two wins in cup competitions completed the quintet of victories, as a 3-1 at the Oval against high-flying Huws Gray Alliance side, Caernarfon Town, averted what many saw as a potential JD Welsh Cup upset.
The icing on the cake though was the first – with hopefully more to come – silverware lifted by the Ruscoe/Evans management team, as a Jamie Mullan goal was enough to see The New Saints beat Cardiff Metropolitan University FC in the Nathaniel MG Cup final.
“We are all extremely proud at The New Saints that both Scott and Aeron have been named Manager and Player Of The Month respectively for January.” commented Chief Operating Officer, Ian Williams.
“Scott’s meticulous planning and preparation for games has certainly paid dividends, with an impressive run of results in the JD Welsh Premier League at the business end of the season, whilst Aeron has performed at his best.” he concluded.
