The New Saints FC were once again successful in their applications for a UEFA and FAW Tier One Licence, writes Ian Williams in a club statement issued this afternoon.
The JD Welsh Premier League Champions have extended their record of securing both a UEFA licence since its inception in the 2003/2004 season as well as an FAW Tier One Licence when it was introduced.
“Our Chief Operating Officer Ian Williams and Finance Director Helen Harris, have once again been instrumental in obtaining a licence for the club this year. The club’s football business model and forward-thinking strategy dovetails ideally into the licensing system and enables the club to evolve and improve on all aspects of the business, which in turn, helps to ensure success for the team on the pitch’”commented the club’s Chairman and owner, Mike Harris.
The Club Licensing system aims to assist the continual improvement and development of football clubs at the top level within Wales. Licensing is a transparent process that enables clubs to demonstrate to their stakeholders that they meet quality standards.
Clubs are assessed on the following criteria:
Sporting – Youth & Coaching
Personnel & Administration
Financial and Codes of Practice
An FAW Tier One Licence is required for clubs to participate in the Welsh Premier League and for those clubs who qualify for European competitions, the corresponding UEFA Licence is also a pre-requisite.
