The reigning JD Welsh Premier League champions put last Friday’s opening day defeat well and truly to bed, as they beat Bala Town 3-0. In front of the S4C cameras, TNS started the game in the relegation places, but by the final whistle had climbed up to 5th place.
Getting the game underway the Saints, in the new-look kit for the season, defended the car park end. From the off, chances were created, and as early as the 2nd minute Mullan was played through but his shot was saved by Morris in the Bala goal.
From the resulting corner a further opportunity saw TNS go close. Throughout the first period, the game was taken to Bala as the Lakesiders were fortunate to go into the break goalless.
The deadlock was broken on 57 minutes, as substitute Blaine Hudson (replacing the injured Saunders with 36 on the clock) got on the end of a Parry corner to head into the net, giving Morris no chance.
Fletcher finished off a good move six minutes later to put TNS firmly in the driving seat as they went 2-0 up. The striker had worked hard all game and the goal was thoroughly deserved.
With 18 minutes to go, the home side put the game out of Bala’s reach as Fletcher grabbed his second with a delightful chip after a great ball in from Aeron Edwards.
