Newtown Evergreens  2 V 3 Llan City

Nick Trigg socred a second minute own goal to put Llan City 1 up, before a brace from Colin Williams (the second – a 40 yard wonder strike) put the EverGreens 2-1 up at the break.

However, Llan City rallied and deserved their equaliser mid way through the second half. A free kick from the right by Gareth Jones floated straight in.

Just when it looked like the game would end in a draw Dave Rose parried a fierce cross shot straight into the path of Mel Roberts who scored from close range to take Llan City to 4 points in Group A.

Newtown Evergreens see off Llan City in thrilling five minutes!

Newtown took all three points in this exciting encounter for the neutral. Alwyn James put City ahead with a wonderful 30 yard screamer which gave the keeper no chance. The lead didn’t last long however, as Newtown came back within a minute to equalise through Leon Williams. Just before the break, City’s recently signed Welshpool Fossils ace Garry Jones, then put the visitors ahead again, as his cross turned shot, somehow evaded everyone to finish up in the Newtown net. With just five minutes left on the clock it looked as though the points would be shared, as Colin Williams equalised for Newtown making it 2-2. A further chance would come in the dying seconds of the game though, when a Newtown player was tripped just outside the box. Leon Williams stepped up for a chance to win the game for Newtown and whipped his free kick past the on looking City players, to take all three points and complete his brace!

Title holders Shrewsbury Old Boys off to a winning start!

Shrewsbury scrapped through a 2-1 victory over Whitchurch Alport last week in a well mannered, fairly played game. Matt Lowe & Matt Brookes grabbed the goals as the reigning champs took all three points!
