Important News On TNS Foundation’s Holiday Activity Provision

Do you have children/family who have taken part in our free holiday activity provision in Gobowen, St Martins, Weston Rhyn and/or Oswestry?”

We have received fantastic feedback for our provision this year, which was attended by almost 400 children and young people.

This provision has been possible due to funding support provided to TNS Foundation by Shropshire Council and others.

Unfortunately, Shropshire Council is now proposing to remove this funding to rural areas, and only provide a small amount of funds for youth provision in the five largest market towns in the County.

The Council is currently running an online public consultation on this proposal – ending on 5th January 2018.

We are therefore hoping that you would be willing to respond to the consultation – and hopefully convince the Council of the importance of a relatively small amount of funding in providing much-needed activities for children and young people growing up in rural areas who aren’t necessarily able to get in to the market towns to access what they have to offer.

The following link details the proposal, and includes a link to take part in the consultation. Question 1 of the survey asks which Local Joint Committee (LJC) area you live in – if you live in Gobowen, Selattyn, Weston Rhyn or St Martins – the answer will be Gobowen, Selattyn, St Martins and Weston Rhyn LJC. If you live in Oswestry – the answer will probably be Oswestry Town LJC.

Once you have read the details of the proposals clicking on the tab ‘How to get involved’ will take you to the ‘Go to the survey’ link.

We would be extremely grateful if you could take the time to complete this consultation by the deadline of 5th January.

Thanking you in anticipation. TNS Foundation.
